The Rowland House in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania — a tall whitewashed eighteenth-century house with black shutters and two brick chimneys, beside the state marker for the Thomas Rowland & Sons shovel works.

Cheltenham is the village at the Philadelphia line where Cheltenham Avenue meets the Tookany Creek, in the township of the same name. The Rowland House still stands on Church Road from the days when the shovel works was the reason the village existed, and Ashmead Village, Cheltenham Village and Oak Lane Manor are the names people here still use.

How our trucks get here

Deliveries into Cheltenham run off Cheltenham Avenue, East Cheltenham Avenue, Ashbourne Road, Tookany Creek Parkway, Ashmead Road, Central Avenue, Church Road and Old Soldiers Road.

Tight streets and on-street parking are the norm here, and several roads change character at the Philadelphia boundary on Cheltenham Avenue. The creek and its park also break the street grid in places, so a route that looks direct on a map may not be. None of it stops a delivery; it just rewards a note on the order.

Tanks in Cheltenham homes

Close-set twins and rows near the city line, with older singles on the streets running back toward the creek. Cellars are near-universal and a 275 in the basement is the standard arrangement. Access matters more than tank size on most of these streets.

Source: U.S. Census Bureau, 2019–2023 American Community Survey 5-year estimates, and the 2023 ZCTA Gazetteer. ZIP Code Tabulation Areas approximate postal ZIPs and don’t follow municipal boundaries, so these describe the ZIP rather than the borough or township exactly. The share heating with oil is left out here: the Census sample for this area is small enough that the published margin of error is wider than the estimate is useful, and we’d rather show nothing than a number we can’t stand behind.

Buying heating oil in Cheltenham

Cheltenham is overwhelmingly a gas neighborhood, and the oil-heated houses that remain are mostly older properties near the creek and the city line. That is a small round in a dense area, which is the good case for us: short distances between stops keep the per-gallon price competitive even where the volume is modest. A 50-gallon band is available in 19012, which is not true everywhere. Prices move daily with the wholesale rack, which is why the number above is today’s and not last week’s. Local dealers compete on this page, so the lowest price is always at the top — we don’t sell placement above a better price.

How much oil do you need in Cheltenham?

Order a dollar amount, a number of gallons, or ask for a fill — whichever way you actually think about it. Tell us your tank size and what the gauge reads and we’ll warn you before you pay if the tank won’t take it all. You’re charged only for the gallons that actually go in, and if it takes less, your price per gallon doesn’t go up.

Heating oil in Cheltenham — common questions

Do you deliver heating oil in Cheltenham, PA?+

Yes, to 19012. Elkins Park is 19027, Wyncote is 19095 and Jenkintown is 19046 — all served, each priced on its own ZIP.

Why is there no oil-heating percentage shown for Cheltenham?+

Because the Census estimate for 19012 is small and its margin of error is proportionally very wide. Printing it as a fact would suggest a precision the survey does not have, so the figure is left off and the rest of the data stands.

Is Cheltenham the same as Cheltenham Township for delivery?+

No. The township covers several ZIPs — Elkins Park, Wyncote and Glenside among them — and each one prices separately. This page is 19012, the village at the city line.

What is the smallest amount of oil I can order in Cheltenham?+

50 gallons. 19012 is one of the ZIPs with that band. It is dearer per gallon than 100 gallons, because the delivery costs the same whatever volume comes off the truck.

My street is narrow with parking both sides. Can the truck still get in?+

Almost always, yes — these streets are delivered every winter. If access is genuinely awkward, or your fill is at the back, say so on the order so it is planned rather than discovered.
