Oil Heat USA

Heating Oil in Montgomery County, PA

Montgomery County is where oil heat is the exception rather than the rule — gas mains reach most of it — which makes the households still on oil harder to find and, if you are one of them, harder to get a competitive price for. The pockets are real: Lansdale, Ambler, Hatboro and the older boroughs along the Main Line edge.

Getting oil delivered in Montgomery County

The county is large and the oil-heated homes in it are scattered, which is a different problem from Lower Bucks. A dealer can drive past a hundred gas-heated houses between stops, and that is precisely why prices here have historically been worse for oil customers: fewer stops per mile, less competition per street. Ordering through a marketplace matters more here than anywhere else we serve, because the alternative is whichever one company happened to fill your tank last year.

Heating oil in Montgomery County — common questions

Which towns in Montgomery County still use heating oil?+

Lansdale has the most oil-heated homes of any town in the county by a clear margin, followed by Ambler, Hatboro, Huntingdon Valley and North Wales. Plenty of the smaller boroughs have meaningful pockets too, but those are where the density is.

Why is oil heat less common in Montgomery County than in Bucks?+

The gas network. Much of Montgomery was developed later or was reached earlier by gas mains, so conversions happened decades ago. Across our whole delivery area about 14% of occupied homes heat with oil; most Montgomery ZIPs sit below that, while Lower Bucks sits far above it.

Does it cost more to get oil delivered in Montgomery County?+

It depends where in the county you are, and the price you see already includes it. The western and northern townships sit in the furthest pricing zone, while the Abington-area ZIPs — Hatboro, Horsham, Willow Grove, Glenside, Jenkintown and their neighbours — sit closer in and carry a smaller offset. Either way the per-gallon figure on your ZIP’s page is the one you pay.

Do you cover the Main Line?+

The eastern edge of it — Bala Cynwyd, Gladwyne, Merion Station, Narberth and Conshohocken are all in our area, along with Lafayette Hill, Plymouth Meeting and Blue Bell. These are lower-density oil markets, so having several dealers bid on the same ZIP makes more difference to the price than it does in Levittown.
